Our moderator, Newman McAllister, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, but grew up in Raytown, Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City with Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees. 

 

He is married to Bonny, his college sweetheart, for almost 55 years. They both fell in love with Colorado when he was stationed at Ft. Carson during the Vietnam War.

 

For 50 years he has practiced law in Colorado Springs and they have lived in the same house in Chipita Park. Both joined the church in 1977. He served on the Manitou Springs Board of Education and has been active in the Chipita Park Association. 

 

They have two sons, one in Manitou Springs and one in Portland, Oregon, and five grandchildren. He enjoys dancing with Bonny (in the Broadmoor Waltz Club), reading history, parsing grammar and playing tennis.
