Team Talk: May 19, 2022

Administration Ministry Team

Meeting Minutes by Moderator Newman McAllister.

The Team met on May 19, 2022. Those present were Pastor Darlene Avery, Moderator Newman McAllister, Treasurer Sunde King, Member Linda Seger and guest Jeff Chapman (by ZOOM). Member Vaughn Drinen was excused.

Pastor has been occupied with pastoral care. Sue Frindt continues to assist. There are three memorial services scheduled in the next month and a baptism.

The Green Box Festival begins on June 18 and Pastor is seeking volunteers to assist her in staffing the church. There are two recording artists in residence. If outdoor events are canceled because of rain, the church would be available.

The church will offer Tatter Hall for a pancake breakfast on Bronc Day.

The church’s Google Drive is still being refigured to simplify file access.

Rental contracts, preferably interactive, are still needed. Pastor feels uncomfortable about talking about the fees when scheduling a memorial service or wedding. Sunde offered to assist and to call about the June 11 memorial service for Mary Ann Davis. Pastor is also soliciting volunteers to help with that service.

Lynda Martinez, Cathy Virden and Jenn Wagner are helping with hospitality. A new member class should be scheduled. Sisters Helping Sisters is scheduled for May 31.

Sunde reported the April financial results. All income was $5,990.82 and all expenses were $10,982.44, leaving the church with a negative balance of $4,991.52 for the month and $16,040.17 for the year. Sunde also reported the church has switched from PayPal to Evolv. The latter is a comprehensive platform, easier to use and eliminates any charges to the donor-renter’s account for payments to the church.

Jeff discussed space rental rates. They are not yet ready to be presented for approval. He will work on those prior to the next team meeting. Jeff asked and received comments on three issues: (a) the number of renters that would trigger an increase in the room rental rate; (b) a flat fee of $100.00 for the operation of the sound-AV system is not enough and should be hourly; and (c) enlarging the function of the building hosts.

Landscaping, which Jeff will handle and will be completed in the early summer, is the only remaining item under the renovation project.

Jeff has been working with Chris Ruccius but doesn’t have a contract for the church to sign with Chris. Chris has encountered difficulty with the NUC (next unit of computing) device being in a sleep mode.

The membership list is complete. There are 38 members for 2022. There were 55 in 2021. Laurie Guido is working on a new church directory.

Newman is going to invite a Church Mutual agent to inspect the church in early June to determine whether the insurance coverage is adequate.

The next regular meeting is on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 3:30 p.m.
