Team Talk: April 28, 2022

Administration Ministry Team

Meeting Minutes by Moderator Newman McAllister.

The Team met on April 28, 2022. Those present were Moderator Newman McAllister, Treasurer Sunde King, Member Vaughn Drinen, Member Linda Seger and guest Jeff Chapman (by ZOOM).

Pastor is on vacation. Sunde reported the March financial results. All income was $8,425.62 and all expenses were $10,423.97, leaving the church with a negative balance of $1,998.35 for the month and $11,048.55 for the year.

Linda has obtained pricing and samples from C & A Trophies in Colorado Springs. She will place paper name plaques in the suggested locations for each room so the team can review them before the plaques are ordered. The two rooms on the upper level at the end of the hall will be named the Ponderosa Room and the Aspen Room.

Jeff discussed space rental rates and said they were not yet in a form to be presented for approval. He will work on those prior to the next team meeting. He expressed a concern that the building host for each event should do more than be responsible for securing the building, but should also serve as resource for the renter.

Jeff has been working with Chris Ruccius on the computers. Jeff doesn’t yet have a contract for the church to sign with Chris.

A new roster including church members for 2022 should be available by the next team meeting.

There are still a few things to be done before inviting Church Mutual to inspect the building and determine whether our casualty insurance is adequate for replacement, in the event of a fire or other loss. There are two holes in the ceiling of Tatter Hall, which need cover plates. They were for spotlights that were never installed. The electrical circuit that controls the water fountains is not working. Newman will contact the electrician who worked on the renovation. The downspout freezing in the winter needs solving. Bonnie Sipp reported that the gutters are overflowing in the concrete walkway outside the downstairs classrooms. Newman will pursue getting someone to clean them. The steps in front of the sanctuary needs repainting. Newman is going to mow the lawn in May. The plaque and wall hangings need to be reattached in Tatter Hall.

Carla Chapman requested permission to paint the far altar end of the sanctuary, within the arch, stark white. She believes this will accentuate any back altar decorations, as the sanctuary is painted an off-white, with a yellowish tint. The team looked at it and tabled the matter for further explanation by Carla at the next team meeting.

Vaughn discussed posting evacuation plans in every room of the church. He presented a model plan and will refine for the next team meeting.

The team approved a business card for Pastor to access the Needs of Others account.

Newman is working on a revision of the Ushers’ and Greeters’ manual, now that COVID protocols are unnecessary.

The next regular meeting is on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 4:00 p.m.
